A Message From Your Principal

    Dear Parents and Students,

On behalf of the Sutter Middle School (SMS) staff, I welcome your family to the 2020-21 academic year.  The COVID-19 global pandemic has influenced our standard procedures, and more than ever, I want to thank our Sutter Team and district staff for diligently working to ensure a safe and supportive learning environment where your child can achieve their highest academic potential. Without a doubt, this goal cannot be met without strong support from both our parents and stakeholders.  We want all of you to get involved, so over the course of this school year, we have scheduled a number virtual events and parent workshops in which you can participate.

SMS is committed to providing our students with a quality education that fosters lifelong learning, service to our community, and a commitment to excellence.  We have high expectations for our students as we want them to show respect, be on task, model great attitude, and show responsibility.  Most importantly, our teachers are continuing to implement teaching strategies that can advance students during remote learning.

Our goal is to keep both our students and parents well informed about events and school guidelines. Please take some time to review both the handbook and Sutter’s Reopening Guidelines, which provide basic and essential information concerning the operation of the school and students/parents responsibilities.  Both students and parents are encouraged to read this information and keep it as a guide for future reference.

If you have any questions regarding the contents of this handbook, please call us at 834-6180.  We look forward to a great school year and know the partnership between students, parents, staff and community members will lend itself to a successful COVID-19 year.

    Sincerely,

    Lucio Cortez

    Principal
