Mrs. Luisa Custodio Lopes


 Luisa Custodio Lopes has been the principal at Malaga Elementary since 2014.  Prior to that, she was a part of the Malaga commununity as a classroom teacher for 19 years.  She first joined Malaga Elementary as a first grade and taught at that grade level for 9 years.  She then taught 2nd grade for 5 years and eventually moved on to teach Kindergarten for 5 years before becoming the Academic Coach for 2 years.  

For her undergraduate work, Mrs. Custodio earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Liberal Studies at California State University, Fresno followed by a multiple subject teaching credential also from CSU, Fresno. Mrs. Custodio went on to further her education by receiving a Reading Specialist certificate from UCLA followed by a Master's in Reading from CSU, Fresno in 2008 and eventually an administrative credential before being named principal.  Mrs. Custodio considers herself a life-long learner and acknowledges there is always room to grow and improve. 

Mrs. Custodio holds the students of Malaga very dearly to her heart and feels it is her calling to serve this community.  Her mission is to provide a safe and enriched environment so that every student has the opportunity to reach their fullest potential.  She hopes to instill a love of learning in the students of Malaga by setting high expectations, guiding them to reach those expecatations and honoring their accomplishments.  

It has been an honor and a privilege for Mrs. Custodio to serve Malaga families for the past 28 years.
